In his formative years, Barry studied at Akiba Academy, a modern orthodox yeshiva day school before being accepted into the prestigious St. Mark's School of Texas college preparatory school where he not only excelled in the classroom, but also in varsity sports, theater, and student government as student council president.
In college, while his studies at the University of Texas were focused on international relations and linguistics, he still found time to perform on stage and on the basketball court. But it was his performance in the classroom that positioned him to be selected as one of a handful of civilians to study with US Air Force and Army Russian linguists at Trinity University, and later earned a USIA Grant to study at the Moscow Power College in Russia.
Upon graduating college, Barry moved to Israel where he first worked in dispute resolution for the Ministry of Justice in Jerusalem, and then with the Israeli Immigration Ministry in its efforts to assimilate the influx of Russian and Ethiopian immigrants into Israeli society. Before heading to law school, Barry utilized his connections overseas to found an import/export company.
On his way to earning his J.D. from the SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Barry served as the president of the Jewish Law Students Association, immersed himself in Rabbinic Studies at Talmudic University in Miami Beach, Florida. Before graduating law school, he went back to Israel to take part in a comparative international and religious law program at Tel Aviv University Buchmann School of Law, where he also participated in a symposium on Legal Aspects of Middle East Peace, Ceasefires, and Truces.
In the 20 plus years that Barry has been a lawyer and mediator, he has lived and worked in various and sundry industries all over the world and in New York, Florida, and California, before moving back home to Texas in 2008 where in his arbitration/mediation practice, he provides settlement and negotiations counsel in person and virtually via ZOOM.
Barry currently lives in Dallas with his wife, three daughters, and their English Labrador. When not in mediation or arbitration, Barry continues to find time to write and produce television and movie properties as, well as, volunteer and serve on the boards of numerous charities and non-profits.

He is a Credentialed Distinguished Mediator, Texas Mediator Credentialing Association, and is certified in both basic and advanced mediation, as well, as family mediation.
